  • XLD Grain - Serving the Tasmanian Grain Industry

XLD Grain was formed in 2010 with a desire to provide Tasmanian Famers with grain marketing products/contracts of an international standard. Our aim is to give Tasmanian Grain Producers greater control of the returns they earn from their grain. As a shareholder in XLD Grain, TP Jones are committed to offering all Tasmanian farmers the opportunity to take control of their own grain marketing with a range of contract options.

TP Jones combined with XLD have combine 25 years experience in Global & Local commodity trading.

    Daily Pricing

Growers can register to receive daily pricing via sms. Once registered the grower can use the price on the day to lock in part of their crop. Farmers primarily use daily pricing in a few ways

    • Before sowing as a price guide to help with crop selection decisions and assist with budgeting
    • At certain points of time during the crops progress before harvest to lock in costs of production against anticipated yield.

Daily pricing is the basis of all the contracts that TP Jones/XLD Grain offer as detailed below.

     Range of Commodities Procured

    • Red Wheat   • White Wheat   • Malt Barley    • Feed Barley    • Canola    • Oats   • Triticale

     Range of contract options

Spot Cash – As the name suggest, growers can deliver to our storage locations currently at Carrick & Powranna and get a fixed price on the day of delivery. The grower will then be paid in full 30 days from end of week of delivery

Fixed Price – Growers can enter into a fixed price contract as per the daily price on the day of contract for a commodity and grade to be delivered at harvest or for out of season grain at a nominated date. These prices are fixed regardless of the movement in grain pricing.

Price Later – Price later contracts enable growers to deliver at harvest time, store their grain securely and then select a price at a later date (prior to 31st July). Whilst the grain is contracted, the grower can participate in the post harvest price fluctuations as if it was stored on his own farm. The grower is charged a monthly storage fee of $1.65/mt/mth based on un priced grain at the start of each month. The storage charge is deducted from the final payment.
